Studio Policies & Procedures

At Thurotype Studio, we want your time with us to be smooth, creative, and stress-free. The following policies are in place to ensure every client receives the highest level of professionalism, care, and quality during their session

BOOKING POLICIES

PAYMENT POLICY

A deposit of 50% is required to reserve and schedule studio time. This ensures your time is fully secured on our calendar and allows us to dedicate our space and staff to giving you the best possible experience. The remaining balance must be paid in full upon arrival for your session. All payments are final and non-refundable and cannot be waived under any circumstances. 

No walk-ins. By appointment only.

STUDIO TIME USAGE


All scheduled studio time must be used within the time allotted. In the rare event of technical difficulties, management reserves the right to reschedule the session or credit the client with unused hours for future use, at its discretion.

PAYMENT METHODS & FEES


Payments made by credit or debit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express) or PayPal are subject to a 3–4% processing fee. Payments made via Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, Apple Pay or cash do not incur any additional fees.

STUDIO TIME EXPIRATION

Purchased studio time must be used within 12 months of the payment date. Certain special offers may require that studio time be used within 12 months of purchase.
 

OWNERSHIP OF MASTERS


The client listed as the payee on the invoice will assume full ownership of the master recordings once the balance for the session has been paid in full.

 
RESCHEDULING POLICIES

48-HOUR NOTICE


We understand that life happens! If you need to reschedule, please notify Management at (203) 770-1082 at least 48 hours in advance so we can adjust your session and accommodate you at a time that works best.

 

LATE RESCHEDULE POLICY


If you request to reschedule less than 48 hours in advance, a $50 penalty fee will apply. This policy is in place to cover the loss of re-booking the studio and engineer for another client. Please request your initial 50% deposit refund minus the $50 penalty fee.

 
CANCELLATION POLICIES

GUIDELINES OF CANCELLING A SESSION


If for any reason you need to cancel your studio time completely, please notify management at

(203) 770-1082 immediately.

 

DEPOSIT FORFEITURE


For all cancellations less than 48 hours in advance, a $50 penalty fee will apply. This policy is in place to cover the loss of re-booking the studio and engineer for another client. Please request your initial 50% deposit refund minus the $50 penalty fee. 

 
TARDINESS POLICIES

TIMELINESS EXPECTATIONS


Appointment times are reserved specifically for you. If you arrive late, your session may be shortened to avoid impacting clients scheduled after you. Depending on the delay, your engineer will determine whether there is sufficient time to begin or continue the session.

PAYMENT RESPONSIBILITY

Regardless of the actual session length, you are responsible for payment of the full scheduled session. Out of respect and consideration to your engineer and other clients, please plan accordingly and be on time.

 
BEFORE YOUR SESSION

SESSION FILES​​​

We use Pro Tools, the industry standard for recording and mixing. If your project was not created in Pro Tools, please upload or bring your stems prior to or on the day of your session.

FILE DELIVERY OPTIONS


You can use either a thumb drive or hard drive to bring in your session files or tracks. You also have the option of utilizing Google Drive, Dropbox or WeTransfer (please send to sglass@thurotype.com). Many prefer to email files so they will be here upon arrival and you can spend more time in your session recording.

PLANNING & TRAVEL


We encourage all of our clients to review a map of our location in advance. Traffic can vary depending on the time of day, so we recommend leaving 30–45 minutes early to ensure you arrive relaxed and on time. We’d rather you walk in feeling calm and ready to create than stressed from the drive.

 
ARRIVING TO YOUR SESSION

LOCATION

Thurotype Studio is located at 31 Taagan Point Road, Danbury, CT 06811. The studio is located about 15 minutes from Downtown Danbury in a residential area. We are in a stand-alone, two-story house painted white with light blue shutters.

PARKING

Free parking is available. We want your arrival to be smooth and stress-free, so you’ll always find a convenient place to park before your session.

ARRIVAL


For security, our front door remains locked. Upon arrival, please call the studio and your engineer will meet you at the front. If there is a brief delay, please call  (203) 770-1082 so your engineer can be notified immediately. We look forward to welcoming you. Our team is here to make sure you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in.

 
DURING YOUR SESSION

FOOD, BEVERAGES AND AMENITIES


Food and beverages are welcome in the studios as long as they’re kept away from equipment and have secure lids. To help you feel at home, you’re invited to enjoy our lounges and amenities — including complimentary kitchenette in lobby with coffee, teas and waters.

Our goal is for you to feel relaxed, inspired, and completely at ease while creating with us.

FILE HANDLING


All editing, file transfers, and CD burning are completed within your scheduled session time.

FILE DELIVERY


Your engineer will always provide an MP3 or WAV file of your music during your session. If you would like your raw session files delivered via Google Drive, the engineer can upload them during your scheduled session. Files sent via Google Drive must be downloaded within 14 days of upload.

SESSION FILES


If you would like your raw session files (Pro Tools session), please bring a hard drive on the day of your session so the engineer can transfer them within your scheduled time. Requests for raw session files after the session has concluded will incur a minimum charge of $25 (1/2 Hr.) for transfer to your hard drive or delivery via Google Drive, IF the engineer working the session time and there is no session following.

MEDIA & PROMOTION


With your approval and entirely at your discretion, we may take a quick photo or short video during your recording session. This content is used to help promote our studio and, at the same time, provides you with valuable exposure as an artist within the music industry and great behind-the-scenes content to share with your own audience. Thurotype Studio has a large and engaged following, and this type of promo often benefits both the studio and the artist.

 
AFTER YOUR SESSION

POST-SESSION COMMUNICATION


After your session, we encourage you to stay in touch with your engineer or producer for any edits or revisions. Please note, however, that engineers are not always able to assist with scheduling. All studio bookings must be made through our front desk at (203) 770-1082.

FILE REQUESTS AFTER SESSION


If you request your raw session files (Pro Tools session) after your session has concluded, a minimum charge of $50 will apply for transfer to your hard drive or delivery via Dropbox. Files delivered via Dropbox must be downloaded within 14 days of upload.

FILE RETENTION POLICY


Studio drives are cleared every six (6) months. To avoid permanent loss of your files, please be sure to obtain them during or shortly after your session.

CLIENT FOLLOW-UP & TESTIMONIALS


We’ll be in touch with you by email or phone after your session to ensure you received the highest quality experience at Thurotype Studio. We may also request a testimonial to share on our website and social platforms. This not only helps promote our studio, but also provides you with added exposure as an artist in our community. Your success is our success, and we love celebrating the music you make here.

 
EDITS & REVISIONS

MIX REVISIONS


Unless you have purchased one of our mix package deals and have free revisions left, a minimum charge of $50 (1 Hr. ) applies for any edits or mix revisions. Standard hourly rates will apply for work exceeding 30 minutes. This policy does not apply to mix packages or bundles, which will be specified at the time of booking.

GENERAL POLICIES & REGULATIONS

SMOKING POLICY


For the comfort of all clients and staff, smoking is not permitted in the lobby or control room area where our engineer is working. There is a designated smoking booth available and areas are available on the side of the building patio, as well. If you would like to rent our larger booth for smoking in as well

during your session,

we charge a $15 per hour surcharge each additional room added.

We want every client to feel comfortable while recording, so thank you for helping us keep the space welcoming for everyone.

 

 

PROHIBITED ITEMS


All illegal substances and weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited inside Thurotype Studio. Any items deemed harmful or disruptive will not be permitted on the premises.

Thurotype Studio reserves the right to deny entry or refuse service, without refund, liability, or compensation, if circumstances so require. While we work hard to make every client feel welcome, safety and respect in the studio always come first.

 

POLICY UPDATES


Thurotype Studio’s policies and regulations are subject to change at any time without prior notice. Any updates are always made with your experience and best interests in mind, ensuring that our studio remains a safe, professional, and welcoming place for all artists.

LOGO USAGE


Use of Thurotype Studio’s logo on flyers, digital media, CDs, DVDs, banners, or any other promotional materials is strictly prohibited without prior authorization from management.
